Demoting a Domain Controller

Hi,
I have an environment with 5 Windows 2000 Domain
Controllers and I want to demote one of them. I am using
an Administrator username and password, same one that I
have used before to promote a server to domain controller
and worked, and I get this error message
"The operation failed because: The attempt to configure
the machine account X2K$ on server ex2k.di.com
failed. "Access is denied. ""
I will appreciate your help.
