Dell PC slow doing everything

Hi, my Dell PC gets really slow after being turned on for a day or so and I
have to restart it to get it to react with any speed. It is only twelve
months old. The hardware is as follows if that helps at all.

Dell dimension DV051
Pentium 4 3.00Ghz
2.99Ghz, 248Mb of RAM
It runs Mcafee virus scan and sundries.

I have a hunch it may have something to do with the small amount of RAM i
have. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Richie

That is a very small amount of RAM. Check your available memory
slots, determine the kind of RAM needed, and install 2 GB. Should
cost about $100, maybe less. You may have to remove your existing
RAM. Crucial.com has always been good to me.

But should the amount of time it has been turned on have anything to do with
it?

There are memory leaks in a lot of software. (Programmers are not as
tidy as they used to be.)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, just one more question though, will my
processor support that much RAM or do I need to do anything to my system to
support it? Thanks again, much appreciated.
