Dell Musicmatch Jukebox Plus version 10

Cindy

I am sure someone can answer this question. I have written to customer
service:) I am sure it will take days for an answer, possibly someone
knows the answer.
In Feb 2005 I pd. for version 9 of Musicmatch Jukebox plus. $19.99. I
thought this was a one time fee. I upgraded to Version 10 this last
week. When I check my account
it says
Musicmatch Jukebox It appears you are using the free version of
Musicmatch Jukebox

I wrote Musicmatch and got a response with my key number (which I already
knew) and an explanation - If our key does not work it may be because
you have requested a key for a version which is different from that which
you have installed. Yes I upgraded to version 10. Do I have to pay
another fee to use version 10? Thanks in advance for any help you can give
me.

No... it should be a ONE time fee, and somehow you got the *wrong* upgrade
version. That is, unless they gave MM PLUS users a conversion deadline to
upgrade before the merger, or some special instructions I'm not aware of.
I use the free version, so hopefully someone who has PLUS will confirm this
for you. I think there would be quite a furor, that we would have heard
about, if you had to pay again... one year later.

I hate to tell you this, but you are probably going to have to wait until
you get a *live* person from MM to understand your problem. This changeover
to Yahoo management and all the site changes probably have something to do
with it.

Have you tried *registering* again with your key from the 2005 purchase?

Under "Help", "Registration" in MMJB 10... have you entered your version 9
key, under "Enter Key"... to see if your options will change?

Unfortunately yes you do. My experience with MM has been dismal. An update to
MM 10 caused my old computer to crash and was not bootable even in safe mode.
After a complete reformat and reinstall - same thing after error messages. No
help from MM. I tried 3 times to get it to work after reformats. They twice
sent me a form letter on how to uninstall and reinstall. No help whatsoever
on the error messages etc. I had paid for the full version AND another 39.95
for all future updates. Even now I am scared to even try to install it on my
new computer. Absoluely NO help from them.

Thank you both of you for taking the time to help me. After 3 e-mails to
MM my problem is solved. This morning I received this e-mail. I
again:) went to my Dell Musicmatch Jukebox, and again went through the
process of trying to upgrade with the my key. This morning it
worked....and did the program upgrade for me, so I am now fine. For
those you have this program here is some information about the cost of this
program. I don't think it is fair, in order to get all future versions -
you again have to pay $19.99 for the MMJ plus as they are not sold
seperately.

Hello Cindy,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Customer Support.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Our records show that your upgrade key is still valid up to version
10.10. You should not experiencing difficulties.

All Future Versions can only be purchased in conjunction with the
purchase of Musicmatch Jukebox Plus. Unfortunately, at this time, it is
not available as a separate purchase. In other words, you can either
purchase Musicmatch Jukebox Plus, or Musicmatch Jukebox Plus with All
Future Versions.

Should you have other questions please feel free to write us back.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

After posting my earlier response I found MM's *purchase* terms on their web
site [which I copied and pasted below for Cindy]. I love MM, but I would
think they're going to lose some *paying* customers, considering the shape
of their *support*. I've always used the free version, since my Gateway
"Plus" subscription expired. I knew after that, there was NO support. ;)

What is the status of your program now? For $60 you definitely should get
what you paid for! What are the spec's for your new computer? [Memory, etc.,
and additional software.]

I'm sure there are people here, who will be willing to try to help you,
install it and get it to work... if you still want to. :)

From MM web site help forum:

Do I have to pay to update from a previous version of Musicmatch Jukebox

If you have purchased All Future Versions, you never have to buy Musicmatch
Jukebox Plus again. Please use the following URL to download the latest version:

http://www.musicmatch.com/download/free/download.cgi?os=pc&did=999990944

If you have NOT purchased "All Future Versions" (previously known as
Lifetime Upgrades), then you are entitled to the version that you purchased
and any revision of that version only. In this case, you will need to
purchase a new key in order to access the Plus features of any new version
that may be released.

NOTE: All Future Versions can only be purchased in conjunction with
Musicmatch Jukebox Plus, and is not available as a separate purchase. To
purchase a new key for and to learn about all the new features and
improvements in the latest version of Musicmatch Jukebox, please visit our
website at:

1. I have a lifetime key for Musicmatch Jukebox, but I can’t upgrade to the
next version. Why?

If you are attempting to update to the latest version of Musicmatch Jukebox
Plus and are receiving a message that your key is not valid for the latest
version, it is likely that you did not purchase All Future Versions
(formerly known as Lifetime Upgrades) when you purchased your Musicmatch
Jukebox Plus key.

If you feel that you did in fact purchase All Future Versions, then it is
possible that you are not using the correct key. You can use the Retrieve
Lost Key function in Musicmatch Jukebox to obtain your purchased key.

To retrieve your registration key, please do the following:

- Open Musicmatch Jukebox.
- Click the "Help" menu.
- Click the "Registration" menu option.
- Select the "Retrieve Lost Key" menu option.

This will launch your web browser to a form requiring the following information:

- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your postal code.
- The last four digits of your credit card.
*This information must match the information given at the time of purchase.

When your purchase record is confirmed your key will be emailed to you
immediately. When your receive your key follow these easy steps to enter it
and enable the features you purchased:

- Open Musicmatch Jukebox (if it's not still open).
- Click the "Help" menu.
- Click the "Registration" menu option.
- Select the "Enter Key" menu option.
- In the space provided, enter your key EXACTLY as it appears in the email.
- Click the "OK" button to save the key, enable the features, and close the
dialog.
