dell lattitude/modem

I have a 4 yr old c-500 laptop that I'm trying to hook up
a us robotics 56k modem to. on my devices list my com1
port shows an error,(not enough resources)can i hook up my
modem through the pcmcia slot? or the usb? thankyou
 
Nope, you would need a different modem to do that. The question is did
you enable the COM port in the PC BIOS? Did this laptop come with
Windows 2000 or did you replace the operating system that it had before?
If you put Windows 2000 on it then I would suspect that the wrong
motherboard drivers were used, and one should d/l the correct ones from
the manufacturers web site.
