About a year ago a friend got a new Dell Dimension, and his CD pack included
a disk with desktop themes and screensavers, really cool stuff, Space
Station, etc. I got my Dell this week but didn't get this CD. Anybody
familiar with this CD. I believe it was a bonus WindowsXP features disk.
Thanks.

Was it possibly the Microsoft Plus for XP CD?
Dell may have had a special offer going on for this CD at one point.
I have purchased 2 Dell computers for other people in the last 3 months and
they don't include this CD so I'd have to guess it was a temporary offer of
MS Plus XP.

Greetings --

I should think that the obvious place to start would be with Dell,
don't you? It sounds like your friend ordered a software package the
included Plus! for WinXP at the same time he ordered the PC.

What Dell offers in "sales packages" change almost daily.
You must read the descriptions carefully and check prices.

Dell knows that a computer without applications is just a
nice room heater, so they include Corel Office unless you
order something else. You can choose what kind of monitor,
mouse and keyboard and you can select the software you want.

I can't build a computer from parts bought on-line for as
little money as I can Buy a Dell and Dell is adequate for
all but the most demanding gamer. But you must read the
descriptions: Does the mobo have an AGP slot so you can
upgrade the video? Not often in the lowest cost computer
models.
