Dell and IE - worked prior to Windows Updates installed

C

Christopher.Hoche

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 and I was able to browse the Internet via
IE6.0 until this morning when I installed about 20 Windows updates.

Now IE just times out as if there were no network connection. Page
could not be displayed screen.

I took a look at the status of the sent/received packets, and it shows
very little activity.

Though I am getting a valid IP address from my DCHP.

I just cant ping anything on the network nor exteral websites. Is there
any documantation that states any issues with Dell computers and MS
Updates regarding IE?

Please help...

It may be that one or more of the updates (including the MSRT) exposed
hijackware already present on machine, Christopher. See the references
below.

If you just installed WinXP SP2, please post back before continuing.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

I am using a DELL INSPIRON 5100.… having similar problems. Thought it was
me. Not to mention I borrowed this from a friend, while my computer is down.

Plus, I have spent more time with this rectangular box than my wife; she is
somewhat miffed and has me confirmed mad. I wish I could be of some help,
however, too, am at a loss.

Someone out there may be able to help! We are not alone!

Cheers!

Sorry just read the other post... you have smething there. I have scanned
for spyware and more... and there is something in there that shouldn't be.
