Well..
Roland(WLM Tech support)should have added some additional info.....for a ***pop3 enabled hotmail account*** to be processed by a
WLM rule, the hotmail account has to be configured as a pop3 account. That may present a temporary hurdle<g> that requires some
ingenuity.

WLM will default a hotmail account unless setup manually or configured with a temporary different email address(e.g.
(e-mail address removed)). The temp address can be modified later to the correct address and should be done after pop3/smtp, ports, and SSL
settings are finalized.

Configuration settings can be found here:

Msft did not say "that Hotmail has Pop access", they ***did*** say your account has pop3 access
- (I.e. as Gary mentioned you must be paying $20/yr for that privilege...if you are not, then your account would typically not
have pop3 access unless you fall in that small(we've only seen 3 people report in the Hotmail forum) percentage of folks with an
MSN Partner account that classifies your subscription as a Hotmail Plus Account)....thus if not paying $20/yr, ymmv.

Yes, I'm paying the $20 per year. Well, right now I guess it's not a Pop3
account. It's setup with a server URL:
http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx So, I guess my Mail
Rules I've been setting up aren't working then. I was kind of confused what
you said in your second paragraph about the Pop3 email. Should I delete the
hotmail account that's in WLM now, and create a Pop3 Hotmail account with
these settings, so I can use the Mail Rules I'm setting up in WLM?

Our POP service requires that you use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the
POP and SMTP connection and use SMTP authentication. This is to ensure that
your email address and password are not subject to tampering. The settings
are the following:

POP: pop3.live.com (port 995)
SMTP: smtp.live.com (port 25)
Note: make sure you check the box that indicates that your outgoing server
requires authentication (in most mail clients this is not checked by
default).
Username: your full email address
Password: your Windows Live ID password

Sorry I didn't know there was a WLM newsgroup because I couldn't find one.
That's why I posted here.

The only way to enable rules is to setup the account using the Pop3/Smtp servers with the appropriate ports(in/out),
authentication, and SSL encryption.

FYI...the pop3/smtp settings work in both WLM and WM
- note: both can be cranky and interpret a pop3 capable msn/hotmail/live.com account as an http account thus setup manually or
use a false address(e.g. (e-mail address removed), (e-mail address removed) , (e-mail address removed))then modify it later.

Yes, that worked, the only problem is I had 17,000 emails, so I should have
copied all the emails over from the old account to the new account, but I
deleted the old one and made the new Pop3 account and it took hours and hours
to download all the 17,000 emails again.

I have just 2 last questions for WLM. Should I make a new post in the other
group?

Is there a limit to the number of rules I can make?

If I send and email to somebody with a url link in it and then I decide
later to go into my sent folder and copy the contents of the body of the
email and paste it into a new email the link doesn't work anymore, and it has
all this extra garbage that's been added to the link. How do I avoid this
problem in the future?

Thanks again for all the help!!
