Hi,

I have run msconfig and stripped out some un-needed files from the startup
tab ie de-selected the tick box.

Iwould now like to delete these unwanted entries from the list as they serve
no purpose except to clutter the display, the question is how do I do this?

thanks

Go to Start>Run type regedit
Navigate to
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run, run once
etc

Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run, run once
Check each Run folder and delete the Startup entries you no longer want.
I would back up first by Exporting each
key and save as reg file.

That'll work, but frankly startupcpl from
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
is a truckload easier.

Easiest is to check them again, and note what the 'location' is for each
line in question.

Then for HKLM or HKCU run regedit.exe and delete from the right pane of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
respectively.

For Startup or Common Startup, right click the Start button, take Open
or Open All Users respectively, and in either open the Programs folder
and in that the Startup folder, and delete the shortcuts
