I was downloading music and ended up with a pornographic video (MPEG) and I
can't delete it. The only options when I right-click on it are play, add to
windows media play list, open with, and send to. when I push the delete
button nothing happens... I haven't had any pop-ups or weird messages, but I
want to get rid of this so I don't have to worry about it. also I scanned the
file with McAfee VirusScan, which said there where no infected files, but I'm
still not comfortable having it on my computer... can someone help me????

Utility for Deleting Invalid Files

For invalid/UNC file/folder name deleting, rather than the in use problem

Locked Files Wizard formerly CopyLock is a simple assistant that allows you to replace, to
move, to delete and to rename one or more files or folders which are in use by the system
or any other process.
CopyLock is a small program that allows replacing, moving, renaming or deleting one or
many files which are currently in use (e.g. system files like comctl32.dll, or
virus/trojan files.)

You must try deleting your file by loging into Windows in Safe Mode before
you install any third party utility. Restart your computer and press F8 key
repaidly in 1 second gap to bring up the Advanced option menu. Press enter on
Safe Mode and then try deleting that file.

Hope this help, let us know!

It's probably quicker to ctrl+alt+del to Task Manager, under processes tab,
select explorer.exe, click End Process button, answer yes.

In task manager click File menu >New Task, browse to file location, select
then delete file.

Click cancel to ret rid of browse window, then type "explorer" in the Create
New Task field and you are back in Windoze.

AFAIK Explorer locks the file, (for some erroneous reason), so it can't be
deleted. When you stop Explorer, the file is "freed", and thus able to be
deleted.

this didn't seem to work. it would only let me select folders, and even when
i selected the folder the file is in, it wouldn't let me delete it. thank you
for trying to help me, though.

I forgot to mention you should use the pull down "File Type" menu in the
browse window to show "All files" instead of only "Program" files.

When you close explorer your task bar will disappear, as will your desktop
icons.

Also make sure you are using an administrator account. I don't know if
having another user logged on will affect it.

It's a bit hard to gauge the experience level of the user when responding.
:-)

i did that with the file type, and i was in the administrator account... it
still said that the file destination did not exist, and to check if it was
spelled correctly. i also tried using safe mode, which also didn't work. i
don't like to install third party programs, but i did to get rid of this
file, which seemed to work.

Thank you for trying to help me out though.
