Deleting shortcuts on desktop

When I try to delete shortcuts on desktop I receive error message Cannot
find specified path. Can someone please help.

Should be able to delete bad shortcut.

I deleted my dial up connection in network connections, then I tried to
delete icon shortcut on desktop. Thats when I recv message cannot find data
path, which shows to be Location: network connections.

When you "execute", it will say Invalid Path!!!
IF you delete, it should go away.
I just did it on my computer, created dialer, created desktop shortcut,
deleted dialer, dleted shortcut. Shortcut iconis now in my recycle bin.
It should work for you. If not, open My Computer and look for "Desktop" in
the "Address Bar", select it, delete shortcut. It worked that way, also.

when I click on icon nothing happens. When I point at it it shows location
but when I go to location its not there. I have deleted dialup connection
before and icon and never had thnis problem. I also uninstalled a program
this morn and am having same problem deleting icon keep recving same error
message. Very strange and new. Desperate to clean up puter, before giving
to new owner today. Thanks for any more help. Will be waiting for reply.

okay nothing happens when you click ("Execute")
when I point at it (possibly properties menu) path given. makes sense.

Did try other suggestion???
If not, open My Computer and look for "Desktop" in the "Address Bar",
select it, delete shortcut. It worked that way, also.

Other program?? Same issue? Desktop icon?

I have tried all your ideas with no luck. When I click properties it shows
target type: BA126AD7-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E Not sure if that means
anything. Let me know. Thanks

It sounds like an error which is linked to your registry.

I think yo should repost as "Registry Error..... Help!!!"
Then describe you problem.
Also, provide more information regarding other program failure and related
info.

Is it possible to do a System Restore to a date prior to your deleting the
"Dialer", and then delete desktop shortcut prior to deleting "Dialer".

By the way any particular reason for deleting "Dialer"?

Other article provided is complex and I don't know if I could follow it
either.
