I have over 600meg of $NT........ uninstall files in my Windows folder. If my
system is stable and having no problems - for weeks, is it safe to delete
these files? Along with the $xpsp1hfm$ and $NtServicePackUninstall$ file. Are
there other files that may be deleted as well from SP2?

I wouldn't just delete them - I'd move them somewhere else, but only if
you're running out of disk space on your system partition. If you just
delete the files, you can't uninstall any of those hotfixes anymore...

However, if you want to just get rid of them, see

Yes the can be deleted. See this link and the section on tidying up:

Those are files that would be used were you to uninstall; if you are
sure you will not, delete away (or archive to a CD perhaps, in case you
change your mind). The folder you should keep is
windows\ServicePackFiles - it contains the service pack file versions
for use in preference to ones from the original CD if needed by File
Protection/SFC/New Hardware etc. On an NTFS drive a useful amount of
space can be saved by compressing it. What you can do if you have a CD
burner is burn the complete folder to a CD, then run regedit.exe and at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

Change the values of ServicePackSourcePath and ServicePackCachePath in
the right pane to reflect the drive. Best if you have 2 drives, and can
have the original SourcePath on one and this on the other
