Deleting Messages

I am using Oultook with an IMAP account. I currently have to go to edit >
purge deleted messages in order to get a deleted message out of my inbox. I
would like to just be able to delete them and have them sent to the trash.
Can anyone help me?
 
Outlook 2007 will have the functionality you want.
