My sister accidently created a home network on my Windows
XP Pro machine, and I would like to delete that
network...is there anyway to do that? Any and all
suggestions would be extremely helpful

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem.

What do you mean by "created a home network"? What exactly do you see
that you want to delete?

My sister clicked on the Home Networking Wizard and
clicked her way through all the steps for creating a home
network. Now, whenever I go back to the Home Networking
Wizard, I cannot undo (and therefore remove) what she did,
but I can only change it. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you want to do. Why are you
running the Home Networking Wizard? What do you see that you want to
delete, and where do you see it other than in the Wizard? Why is it a
problem?

Steve, I am looking for the answer to the same question so let me revive this
thread. I have 4 computers on a linksys wireless system; all running XP;
everyone seems to have inadvertently set up their own network group. So if I
go to My Network Places and View Workgroup Computers, there is only 1
computer: mine; the address line reads "home network". From there I can
choose (under "Other Places") "Microsoft Windows Group". There are 3 other
network groups there in addition to "home network". What's the problem: it's
confusing, it's redundant. I would like to delete 3 of these and just have
one, make it easy to find the other 'puters. I'd like to just right click and
delete 'em. I hope it's clear what the issue is.
Many thanks....

Hi, David. Specify the same workgroup name on each computer. By
default, XP uses "Mshome". You can do it by running the Network Setup
Wizard, or, more directly:

1. Right-click My Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Click Computer Name.
4. Click Change.
5. Enter the name in the Workgroup box.

There's no explicit way to delete a workgroup name from "Microsoft
Windows Group". A name will automatically go away after a while if
there are no computers associated with it.
