Deleting history from Import/Export Wizard in Windows XP Home Edit

When trying to Import favourites in the Export Wizard, I am asked to Import
from a file or address, and a default automatic file is offered. This file is
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]My Documents\bookmark.htmâ€. When I press
the browse button under where this address appears, the Select Bookmark File
page appears. The default file name is bookmark (file type HTML). If I click
on the arrow next to the default file name I get given a list of choices.
These choices all have the format “C:\Documents and Settings\[username]My
Documents\***\***\ …â€. Some of these folders no longer exist.

How can I remove them from the list in the drop down menu in Import/Export
Wizard?

I am also given a choice under “save as type†in the Import/Export wizard of
two different file types i.e. “HTML†and “Allâ€. If I choose the “All†option,
the list of file options under the HTML disappear, but a new option list of
file names appear. They include recently downloaded exe. Files, and Word
documents that I have recently attached to e-mails. I would like to empty
both types of files, in fact, I would like to clear this history altogether.

Thank you.

Hi Paddy,

Clearing the Recent documents history should clear the MRU of Common Dialogs
as well. If not, post back.

Thanks Ramesh. I appreciate your response. I had already emptied the “c: /
Documents and settings / [username] / recent†folder before posting. I have
just re-emptied that folder again. I’m afraid that it didn’t work. I have
again also emptied the “c:/ Documents and Settings / [username] / Application
data / Microsoft / Office / Recent†folder, and that didn’t work either. I
have cleared my history by running IEHistoryView (downloaded from the
Internet to solve this and other problems), and this was also not the
solution.

It worked. Thank you. Paddy.

Paddy,

This is the procedure I was referring to, earlier.
