Deleting Folder Sharing Violation

Hi,

Can anyone help with the following;

Deleting Folder - 'Sharing Violation'

- Windows 2k pro client (all SP's & hotfixes)
- Create a folder on a Server
- Try to delete & a sharing violation occurs
- The servers this error occurs on are 2000 & 2003 both fully SP'd &
Hotfixed.
- explorer.exe is locking the process
- There are numerous Workarounds (kill process, separate the process
etc) but there isn't a definitive cure as far as I can tell.
- XP works fine but 2000 pro produces the error.
- As far as I can tell through the various groups this problem has been
around circa SP1 onwards & M$ haven't resolved this issue in any SP
since & they don't seem to have a hotfix for this error.

Can anybody help with a definitive cure?

Thanks in advance

Did you take ownership for admin group only and removed all other
groups? Maybe a stupid answer, but I have a similar problem and this
helps.

Thanks for response. Sorry I don't think I fully described the issue.

- Created the folder using a 2k client on 2k & 2k3 servers
- Try to delete the folder, receive a sharing violation with
explorer.exe locking the folder
- If you stop the explorer process or have the client use different
processes in Windows Explorer (& various other workarounds) you can
then delete the folder.

I need a solution that doesn't require any input from the user/admin
(i.e. maybe a hotfix to stop this happening, or a script etc)

Thanks for your reply. The users in question have the appropriate

Thanks
