deleting files

I thought I had completely deleted everything pertaining
to the Umax scanner I had, but when searching files I
came upon 16 files, 2 identical sets in with 8 in
C:\WINDOWS\I386\DRIVER.CAB and C:\WINDOWS\Driver
Cache\i386\drivers.cab. I want to delete these but
cannot. I have tried using the safe mode, making sure
files are not hidden, checking with the OEM, etc. When I
click on File or just right click on one of the files
itself 3 items come up. They are: open containing
folder, Copy, or Extract. I don't want any of those
because if you Copy or Extract, it just puts the same
file where you want it and also leaves a copy where it
was to start with. These are files that are named like
this: umaxcam.dll, umaxp60.dll, umaxpcls, umaxscan.dll,
umaxu12.dll, umaxu22.dll, etc. Any help around?
.
Your Umax files are activated in StartUp thus are
running. You cannot delete files while a program is
running. You need to disable them first. Go to below
website click "D" and scroll down to "Delete - Permission
Denied......" for assistance: Windows XP from A-Z

The files you have found are the drivers included with Windows XP. The
reason you cannot delete them is that they are in .CAB files rather than
folders. Driver.cab is the file containing "in-box" drivers provided on the
Windows CD, and is accessed when you install new devices. It looks like you
have a copy of the Windows XP installation source files in \Windows\i386 as
well as the normal copy of Driver.cab in the \Windows\Driver Cache\i386
folder.

Your options? You can leave them there - they are not currently installed
or running as long as they are in the CAB file. Or you can delete
Driver.cab. I would not recommend this - if you delete the CAB file in
Driver Cache, you will be prompted for your Windows XP CD later when you
install hardware that has in-box drivers.
