hi,

i bought these because i was told i would be able to delete files from this
type of cd and i seem to not be able to do so....any ideas??? should i have
purchased a different type of CD???

i will appreciate any help i can get

you were mis-informed, you cannot delete individual files from a cd-rw,
the way it is written is different to that of a floppy or hard drive,
however saying that I do rememember a program that used to come with
nero burning software that allowed you to format and use your cd-rw's
like floppys but I cannot remember the name of it.

the only way you can achieve what your asking is to copy the files you
wish to keep to your hard drive, reformat the cd-rw, then burn your
files again!

It's called InCD. Formats a CD-RW or DVD-RW for DOS.

First, is your CD burner a CD-RW device? Not all burners can do this.

Second, if you have a CDRW drive, in order to treat a CDRW as a giant
floppy, and delete files individually, you need software of a type called
packet-writing. There are several such products around, such as Nero's
product, INCD.

Third, CDRWs are generally not as reliable as CDRs, and I prefer not to use
them. CDRs are so cheap these days(often free or very close to it on sale or
with a rebate) that I prefer to use CDRs and recreate them and throw the old
ones away instead.
