Can I safely delete txt files of KB updates? Can I safely delete log files?
These open in Notepad and they don't tell me anything I can understand. Are
they excess once it's installed program is working good? What other files
are lurking in a typical XP SP2 IE6 system that I don't need? I'm looking to
be lean without jeopardizing operations. Thanks.

Hi

You have to be very careful with deleting .log files. In which folder are
they located? They are created and specifically used by certain programs.

Will, I have 44 "update_SP2QFE" files in "C\Windows\$hf_mig$\KB<some
number>\update". 50 KB logs in C\Windows. A bunch of "eula" and "updatebr"
in "C\Windows\$hf_mig$\KB<some number>\update". Each of these is not very
big but there sure are bunches of them. Tell me to leave it alone and quit
playing with the system. If there is something reallllly significant I
should concern myself to delete, tell me. Thanks

Hi

I haven't come across that folder before. In this instance you may be
better off seeking the help of the gurus in the Windows Update News Group:
