deleting Aluria LiteScanner

I renewed my McAfee software and it will not install because of incompatible
programs-Aluria LiteScanner. I removed it using the add/remove software
under control panel, but it still shows up. I then used the %temp% and found
it under that, but it will not let me delete 2 files. When I try to delete
them, it says they are being used by someone else or another program. My
question: How do I delete these programs so i can run my McAfee?

Boot up into safe Mode and try the deletion, does it help?.
Learn from Mark how to use the Sysinternals tools to identify malware

Use the Autoruns to delete the left over orphans by downloading it.
This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting
locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to
run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order
Windows processes them

Or try this tool:

Please for all the above tools read the help file before set to your mission
of deletion.

Hi
I had this kind of problem a few years ago with a file in the ZoneAlarm
suite. I removed my installed free version of ZoneAlarm via the control
panel and then could not install the purchased pro version of ZA when the
installation process was stopped with a file (zaclient.exe as far as I can
remember) is being "used by someone else" message. There was no "someone
else" as I was the only user of my single desktop! I tried many approaches
including starting up in safe mode etc etc but to no avail I finally got
rid of the offending file by downloading and installing a file called
unlocker.exe
This program allows the selection of any file, unlocks it ( if it is
locked). The file can then be deleted in the usual manner. I used a Google
search to find "unlocker.exe".
This could be a bit dangerous I suppose but it overcame my problem and I
have used pro ZA ever since.
Good Luck should you choose to accept this Mission Impossible assignment!
Cheers
John W.
