Deleting a text watermark

Thanks for your help. I use Word 2000 with Windows 98.
The previous owner of this pc put in a watermark which
appears on all my docs and is driving me to tears because
I can't delete it. I am job hunting and I can't have "top
secret" on my resumes and cover letters! The watermark is
not in headers/footers. I was advised to go to Format,
Background, then Printed Watermark, but under Format,
Background, all I get is a color chart!! I cannot
find "printed watermark". Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Helen,
Try this ...
click on view, headers footers ... you should be able to access those words
there.
Just scroll up and down until you see it. Highlight it, click it, press
delete key ... should be gonzo.

Dianah...thank you so much for answering my email about a
hidden text watermark. As I mentioned in my original
email, I cannot find the watermark in headers and footers,
and believe me I've gone in there many times. I don't
think it was set up as a header/footer. I was advised to
go into Format (in Word 2000), go down to Background and
then to to Printed watermark...but all I get under
Background is a small color chart, no Printed Watermark
area. So, again, thank you very much for taking the time
to write me back and have a fabulous day (or night)
depending on where you are!! : )

I've seen these posts about watermarks that don't appear in the header or
footer, and have just finished "tweaking" my Epson printer, and on the
"Printing Preferences" menu, there is a dropdown box in the bottom left hand
corner that says "Watermark". You're not using an Epson C83 printer are you
?
