deletes files without permission!

Hello,

Summary:

Using Frontpage 2000, it doesn't ask me, but when it publishes, it
deletes all the files inside folders named 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 on
my server.

History:

The over 3000 files in those folders are published directly to the
server by blogger.com. To avoid being asked literally thousands of
times if I want to delete a file because it's on the remote server but
not on my hard drive, it was suggested to me, and I did, create
folders with those 2002-2005 names on my hard drive, then make those
foldes subwebs, and then always publish without publishing subwebs.

This worked beautifully when I was publishing via ftp to my web hosts
server directly, using some "host" address that published directly
onto their server. At that time I only had one of those blogger
files, "bloggerarchive", and using the above procedure, frontpage left
that folder alone, and didn't ask me about the files inside it.

Then I added the 2002-2005 folders via blogger, made 2002-2005 subwebs
on my hard drive, and went to publish.

Because I started having permission problems with their server which
they said was unrelated to FP, but because I was using a "host"
address for them which published directly onto their server, the web
host suggested I publish via http, and without the host address, but
to http:\sitename.com. So I installed the frontpage extensions, and
published.

It was at this point that FP decided to every time I publish, delete
the files within 2002-2005, without asking. Thankfully, FP is,
however, leaving alone the blogarchive folder.

But why does it delete all the files within the 2002-2005 folders, and
how can I get it to respect those folders, like it does the
blogarchive folder?

It the remote server now has the FP extensions, you need to open the site directly in FP and convert
those folder to subwebs as well.

OK, I reread Thomas A. Rowe's answer to my original query about
avoiding being asked, and he originally suggested I go onto the remote
server thru FP, and make the folders subfolders on the remote server.

So I just went and did that, and published, and FP did not delete the
files in 2002-2005. Hooray! Thanks again to Thomas A. Rowe!!

However, FP still acting a bit weird.

Two things:

1. When I just published, it gave me a "Server error" that a certain
named folder (not one of those in the blogger files) had been modified
in 2003! I clicked ok, and it then proceeded to publish.

2. The other weird thing is, even though I checked only publish
changed files, and there was only one changed file since the last
time, FP seemed to republish everything.

In ftp that would take 7-8 minutes, but using http it only took about
20 seconds, so it's not that terrible.

But how can I get it to properly only republish changed files when I
check that?

Thanks! Before I saw this, I added my own reply in which I indicated
I reread your original reply to me, and went an did that. But there
are still two weird things going on, which maybe you could address, as
indicated in my other reply.

After you have changed your server and local versions (w/ the subwebs) make sure you have at least publish once using All pages to
get the 2 site in sync in FP
- then changed pages only should work
Before you do that clear your web cache files
In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
And run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks in the local site you are publishing from
