Deleted Message

A few minutes ago, about 9:32 edt, I posted a message here that came up as
deleted ("message is no longer available on the server"). I'd just like to
know, since I didn't see anything particularly unusual or offensive about
it, was it really censored? If so, why?

Which message are you talking about? I see two messages from you at
about the same time, this one and one with subject/header: WU Woes.

WU woes is the one I'm talking about. As I mentioned, it came up as a
deleted post. If it's been responded to, I guess I'll have to read the
replies on Google.

It happens to me too. If I post a msg and in the same session attempt
to read it, I too get "message is no longer available on the server",
but why would I attempt to read a msg that I've just posted ;-)

I've been using OE for newsgroups since the dawn of time and never had that
happen (although plenty of other things have).

I suspect it has more to do my ISP or News provider, than OE. At the
dawn
of time (for Usenet) there was no OE, if I remember correctly ;-)

See, this is what happens when I over-rely on WIKI.

FWIW, OE was running under a different name at that time, Microsoft Internet
Mail and News (MSIMN). If you check the properties of your OE shortcut you'll
find the executable file is still named as msimn.exe. I've been using all
versions of it since 1979 when Usenet was created. Some background info from
WIKI:

You're right of course but at the "dawn of time (for Usenet)" when we
were using BBSes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletin_board_system
we mostly used DOS.

LOL, that brings back memories of using my TI99/4A with its 300 baud modem. But
Usenet was really started until 1997 ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet )
and by that time I was using a brand new Micron desktop system which ran MS
WIN95 OSR2, which came with IE3 and MSIMN. I stayed with that version until IE
stabilized in v5.5. And yes, I did tryout other newsreaders, but always came
back to MSIMN/OE.

I guess we're getting way off topic, so I'll end it here.

bye ;-)
