We recently implemented limits on mailbox size in exchange 2000 (SP3). Now
users are noticing that even after they "empty deleted items folder" and all
the messages appear to leave the deleted items folder they still show space
being used in the properties of this folder. You can log onto outlook from
different machines (i.e. different copies of outlook and patch levels and
still get the same behavior. It does not have to do with the retention time,
and a defrag of the database does not work. If you add deleted items it
increases then goes back to the same number when you delete these items. In
addition exchange shows this folder as being empty, however it must be
telling the client because the number is the same from outlook to outlook
client, the number is different for different user - please help running out
of hair to pull out!
