Question? If someone, anyone, accidently deletes the MASTER BOOT RECORD IN
WINDOWS-XP IN DEFAULT FACTORY SETTINGS, AN CERTAIN CRITICAL WINDOWS FILES
HAVE BEEN DELETED, INCLUDING BOOT.INI, HAL.DLL PLUS REGISTRY FILES ARE
DAMAGED. Is it at-all possible to re-install A FULL VERSION OF WINDOWS-XP,
without it seriously affecting OTHER IMPORTANT DATA AN OTHER WORD PROCESSING
FILES, WOULD THE DOCUMENTS DIRECTORY BE OVERWRITTEN OR WOULD IT BE SAFE....!

The object then would be to do a repair installation. This will reset XP to
its original on CD shape without affecting your settings or other programs
on the computer. You will however need to install all of those updates again.

just follow along as the website indicates until you see the "R for repair"
at the bottom of the screen.
Push R and follow the instructions.
good luck

Properly performed, a "Repair Install" would retain your
existing files and programs. It would be wise to backup
your important data files to a CD....just in case.
