deleted c:/"shared documents" contents

Was cleaning up files after receiving "low diskspace"
warning. Deleted numerous files on main and secondary
hard drives - all in recycle bin. Also attempted to
delete "shared documents" directory showing under "my
computer" on C: drive, assuming I'd inadvertently
duplicated it there. Now, the C drive "shared documents"
top level is still there, but all sub-directories are
gone - and the files in them. This ALSO
removed them from the c:/documents and settings/all
users/shared documents directory.

Anyone know if I can retrieve the missing subdirectories
and files??
