deleted admin account?

Using windows XP. I recently created a new admin account that does not have
password protection. To make a long story short, there had already existed
an admin account with password protection on the computer that had countless
files and now it has seemingly disappeared. I tried to log off the new
account and sign in with the old account, and can't find it. The strange
thing is that I remember being forced to create an admin account due to some
message saying the computer needed an admin account to create new accounts.
The old admin account had been running by itself on this same computer for
years. Have I somehow deleted the old admin account? Any help/suggestions
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Windows XP what? Home or Pro (likely Pro from your description.)

Using the Welcome Screen logon?
Log off.
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the welcome screen.
Enter the old admin's username (administrator?) and their password (whatever
it is.)

Shenan Stanley, you have saved my hide. THANK YOU. The old account is still
here. And yes, using the pro edition. I was a little too flustered to
remember to include that pertinent info.
