Delete System tray icons

I find the "Show hidden icons" button very, very, annoying and would
appreciate if anybody can tell me how to get rid of it and show all the
icons in the System tray.

Right-click on an empty area of Taskbar > Properties > Hide inactive icons
(uncheck).
