Hi, trying to delete a empty sheet but after selecting it , the delete sheet button is not active in the edit menu . Why and what should I do?

I suspect the workbook is protected (Is insert>worksheet also greyed out?)

that is what I thought too but insert sheet is active and I did enter sheets previously so I am not sure what it could be. Check in the tools menu and could not find anything there.

Can you rightclick on the worksheet tab and select "delete"?

If yes, then maybe something disabled this option from the Edit Menu.

You can reset the whole worksheet menubar by:
tools|Customize|Toolbars Tab
select Worksheet Menubar
click reset

Note that you will lose any customizing you've done to that commandbar.

It is not available there either at the right clic on sheet tab and I tried to reset my menubar with no change to my problem. Curious now

Is the workbook protected?

Tools>Protection>Unprotect workbook.

You may need a password if this is the case.

check this one and found only protect shared workbook available. Also have to tell you that this file is a shared file whatever that mean . Until now I understood it as a file I could modify but maybe I was wrong

From Excel 2002's help for "Features that are unavailable in shared workbooks":

Unavailable feature Alternatives
Delete worksheets None

So you found the problem.

that is strange, we are able to create or add sheet and not able to delete them. Thanks anyway

In xl2002, I couldn't add a worksheet to a shared workbook.

The option looks available, but when you click on it, you get a failure message.
