delete old A records

I have a bunch of A records in DNS which contain old machine names - stale
records. I do not use scavenging but was considering it. Is there any harm
with manually deleting these records, ie right click the record and delete?
using win2k, ad integrated dns.
Also, the organization i work for has very little turn over with computers
and the names on the computers will remain the same for as long as they
remain with our organization. Would there be any advantage to enabling
scavenging?

thank you

You can do that...

Scavenging will automate the removal of the "stale" records within DNS. It's
really your call, we use scavenging and found it to be very reliable.
