Delete icons is really slow

I have Win2000. Whenever I want to delete an icon (from a folder on
my desktop), or choose the properties for an icon, it is really slow
to delete, or to get the right-click menu to show. How can I fix
this?

Thanks.

Hello,

1. Run chkdsk
2. Run defrag
3. Clean up what you have on your desktop (move unused icons)
4. Make sure you have plenty of free drive space

That should probably do the trick.
