Delete contents but NOT folder

I am trying to clean up my Favorites in IE listing and can't delete
folders. I can OPEN the folder and then delete the CONTENTS but the folder
remains.

Can anyone help me solve this pesky problem?

Why not just highlight the folder and press the Delete key?
