Delete button not working

My delete button suddenly stoped working with Word. It works well with every
other program. The keyboard is a Microsoft wireless keyboard. How do I fix
this. my IT guy is at a lost. I also upgraded to office 2003 from Office
2000. I am still on windows 2000

relevance. If that's not the case, are you perhaps tracking changes?

Thank you Suzanne for your advise, so far I can delete a letter at a time
when I clear one item regarding wordperfect. If I clear both Items, I am back
to square one. So just being able to delete one letter is a big improvement,
but not 100% solved
interesting enough, I can delete a block of text in this message box.

There's something seriously wrong if you've cleared both WordPerfect items
(and are no longer getting the "Delete block" message in the Status bar) and
still can't use the Delete button. I assume we're really talking about
Delete and not Backspace. (If you're talking about Backspace, then you have
to have "Typing replaces selection" checked on the Edit tab of Tools |
Options.)

The action that the Delete button performs is EditClear, so go to Tools |
Customize, click Keyboard, select Edit in the Categories list and EditClear
in the Commands list, and make sure that "Del" is displayed under "Current
keys." If it's not, assign it.
