Whenever I try to delete a file I keep getting a message that says can't
delete check path. This happens in explorer and when I try to delete from
the desktop. Anyone know why?
TIA

yes Ricardo, any file, either from the desktop( a shortcut) or from
highlighting the file in Explorer and hitting delete. Real odd!!!

Have you tried scandisk /f?
Have you done a virus check?

Tony, what happens if you try deleting the file from the command line?

That works!!! Also if I move a file to another drive partition I can delete
from there. It seems only to be C that has the problem. Any nearer?
Thanks for your persistence!

Tony, can you please post the *exact* wording of the message you get
when you try to delete a file from Windows Explorer?
