delays in displaying e-mails with attachments in Preview Pane

I am using Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003 behind it. I am using the preview
pane feature, and when I click on an e-mail that has no attachments, it
displays immediately, but when I click on an e-mail that has attachments, it
takes around 20-30 seconds to display the e-mail.
I am not using Cached Exchange Mode, though when I was, the problem still
manifested itself.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to things to try to correct this issue?
And as an IT guy, I can tell you that I HAVE tried rebooting! ;-)

Hi Greg, I have found the running "outlook.exe /cleanviews" from the cmd line
to really do the job on fixing outlook 2003 issues.

Actually, try this: close outlook. Check task manager for any other
processes of Outlook, run the "cleanviews" and reboot the machine.
