Our setup is as follows:
Windows XP Pro, SP 1, all latest and greatest patches.
Windows 2000 SP 4 file server with Ultra SCSI attached disk array.
switched ethernet 100 LAN
SMC Barricade 7008ABR NAT router latest firmware, 10/100 WAN port.
The Windows XP client machine is on a segmented private network behind
the Barricade. The WAN port of the barricade is plugged into our LAN
(eseentially a private LAN off our corporate lan).
We're having DWFs with two specific applications.
First, Visual Sorce Safe 6 with SP5; coders at this workstation are
contantly getting DWFs while attempting to check-in projects to the
VSS db on the file server.
Second, a proprietary data collection software attempting to write
through the NAT to the file server. Almost constant DWFs. THis
software has been reconfigured to collect the data points to the local
hard drive, and then copy the finished file to the file server. No
problems with that.
Copying files to and from the file server yields no DWFs. No one else
on the corporate LAN has any DWF problems with the file server.
A quick pervue of PerfMon shows a 100Mbits connection when copying
data through the NAT.
ANy ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've tried the work arounds
suggested by MS in KB 321733 and related articles to no avail.
