Delayed write failed

Don Culp

After I unplugged a USB hard drive, Windows displayed a dialog box:

Delayed Write Failed
Please try to save this file elsewhere.
OK.

I can't find the listed file on my original drive and I don't need it
anyway. However, the dialog box keeps popping up and insists on remaining in
the foreground. Is there any way to get rid of this dialog box without
rebooting?

Thanks,
Don Culp

David --

It's not a question of preventing the initial "delayed write failed"
problem. I just need a method to prevent the dialog box from popping up
again and again over the same incident -- i.e., I unplugged the USB drive
yesterday and the dialog box still pops up after I click "OK".

You'll likely need tools from the controller manufacturer to do that.

I know. You'll likely need tools from the controller manufacturer in order
to flush the write cache.
