Delay opening Network Shares

I have my network set up in a workgroup and have the
majority of my stuff stored in shares on the "server"
(Windows 2k Pro box). I have the ACLs set up to allow
authenticated users to have access to these shares. My
issue is that sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds for the
contents of the share to display (thus turning explorer
into a paperweight). I thought maybe this was due to it
verifying authentication so I set up a share with the
everyone = full access and it lags as well. This is an
on and off thing (every 5 or so mins) and I have no idea
what could be causing it.

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Open up the Registry and go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current
Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace
Under that branch, select the key :

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

and delete it.

XP by default checks for scheduled tasks and remote print job status. The
above removes the scheduled task check, under the same key is the print
status check, and it can be removed if you choose.

Test, the effect should be immediate without a reboot required.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the help Bill. I removed both keys however I
didn't immediately notice a difference. I rebooted and
did get to browse a share without any waiting (whereas
before I would definately have the 30 second freeze on
bootup). However, 5 minutes later I tried again and it
hung for a little bit, no where as long as before so it
may just be my Win2k PC dying (they tend to do that to
me). Thanks again.

Cheers,
Brad
