Delagated contacts and categories

I have a user that just got office 2007, she maintains a contact list for
another user that is currently using 2003 outlook. He has categories set and
since his assistant is now 07 she can't put a category on to his contacts.

Before she had down in the bottom right hand corner category and a drop down
with custom categories. Is there a way to make the contact form look like
03's?

We tried using the new category color thing, but it is just basic red, green
....etc and none of the custom stuff.

Thanks

I am in the same position as Dan. I am terribly frustrated and can only
find colored categories. Outlook 2007 is my first outlook and I got it
primarily for the ability to categorize contacts so that I can use different
fields and apply different categories to diffferent contacts. I need to know
how to access the master categories list, and how to add categories

to contacts.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you!!

Dan, in OL07 the button no longer exists. Now it's the big Categorize button
on the toolbar. If you click on that you see up to the last 15 used
categories. If you want to see more or add categories then you have to do an
additional click on 'All Categories' at the bottom of the list.

This did not work, it just has red, yellow...etc.

The master list is on the users outlook 03 and when she pulls his contacts
up and goes to create a contact for him it does not have his catagories....

Can't they just fix it like the 03 in 07...why microsoft go and screw up a
perfectly working contact feature?

I'm not sure what doesn't work and what your question is. First you must
know please that every user has its own Master Category List - that hasn't
changed.

If you want her (OL07) to have his (OL03) Master Category List then you must
publish his list to her somehow. This method might work: He can send her an
e-mail with all his categories assigned to. After she's received the e-mail
she can right click on her store's top folder, choose Properties, Update to
Color Categories.

Because the format of the Master Category List and the place where it's
stored has changed there's no easy way to synchronize categories between
different Outlook versions. That was never easy.

For an easy way to synchronize categories you might test Category Manager,
see the link in my signature.
