I have a Toshiba laptop, xp home, 512 ram, 80 gig HD, 2.7 mzh. Defrag will
not run. It starts and gets to 4%-5% and hangs. I have left it on over 20
hours and then have to cancel. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try deleting the internet cached files first (not sure if it makes a
difference on XP but I had to do that with W98)

Try running in safe mode (hit F8 when booting to get to the menu).

Run a Scandisk first (right click on the drive letter in my computer and
choose properties then click on the tools tab. Use top option - Scan disk
for errors. Select automatically fix errors or if you want to do a full
scan, check both boxes).

Make sure to disable your screensaver if you haven't done so.
