Defragment Error

When trying to run Defragmenter on C:\ Drive the message
"Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled
to run on the volume"
"Please run Chkdsk /f"

Chkdsk /f doesn't run from the Dos prompt but Chkdsk
does. When this happens everytime that the PC is switched
on ir runs Chkdsk.
I'm trying to run it as the PC is running really slow.

This link simply explains the processes of Chkdsk /c /f /i etc. I am getting the same error about chkdsk /f needing to be run on voolumd (c I have run chkdsk but i am not able to run chkdsk /f. Any more ideas?
