Diskeeper Lite is based on the XP defrag engine, but doesn't seem to
offer anything better. Indeed some of the functionality is disabled.
However, it is by far the best option I have found for my Windows 98
set up, as Miscrosoft's defrag locks up the system, and all other
offerings I have tried lock it up, with some damaging the hard disk
system data as well. Don't know why, but there you go.
Actually it's the other way around, the XP defragger is actually a MS
version of Executive Software's Diskeeper Lite. Microsoft has never released
a defragger of their own, they've always bought someone elses and packaged
it with their OS. This particular defragger (in earlier versions) has been
around since NT4, using the MS Management Console interface.
