Silly question: What am I supposed to do about the files
on my C drive that Windows XP is unable to defragment?
The last couple of times I have run it, the report gives
me quite a long list of files (mostly games) that cannot
be defragmented and I just wondered how to deal with
them? Usually the drive is defragmented with no problem

You can run defrag a second time and it will sort out a few more however
there will always be some file names in that list. This is normal with the
XP defrag tool.

If you're a real defrag nut (acknowledging that some of us are - not being
judgmental), there are third party defragmenters that can perform a boot
time defrag. These will be able to get at most of those "untouched" files
since they are not in use when the boot time defrag tool runs. Perfect Disk
by Raxco, for example, can do this.

Make sure that there is at least 15% free Hard Drive space. Otherwise
defragmentations can not always be done succesfully, generally no matter
what program used.
