I am trying to defrag and I am getting a notice of Volume
C;\ has 17% free space and 9% is available for Disk
Defrag, do I want to run anyway?
when I run the defrag it does not really defrag, my drive
is mostly red. I have absolutely removed everything that
I could. what can I do to overcome this issue and
succesfully preform a defrag?

If you have another disk in your system, you might be able to move the page
file to this disk (temporarily, or permanently - it's up to you). Otherwise
you might be able to shrink the page file temporarily to allow defrag to
function.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307886 shows you how
to work with the page file in Windows XP. If you running another operating
system version, you could search http://support.microsoft.com for page file
operations.
