About a week ago I started having trouble with Symantec defrag.
It would not go past about 58% sort for C: disk, quoting error (0).
It would defrag the other disks OK.

This scares the socks off me because when I search Google for a
solution for this problem, it seems to have been around for several
years for Symantec, Windows, Linux, etc and I cannot find any real
answer.

Can some learned person in this group give me some ideas on where
to start looking?

TIA,

Nev.

Contact Symantec tech support for help with their program. You might be
better off without it.

I sent Symantec an email about this problem four days ago, haven't had an
answer yet. I emailed them before I sent them the email and got their
reference number for my query.

I have always known that people either love Symantec or hate 'em. I had
no problems with Symantec until Win 2000 came out and then things
changed. Someone told me recently that they never bought anything from
Symantec after Peter Norton jumped ship.

Thanks for your answer,

Nev.

You're welcome. Good luck.

However, I ran Norton DiskDoctor on my C drive yesterday
and now Speedisk will defrag that drive. I don't know what DD
did.

I think a lot of the other problems I have had with Symantec are
probably due to Symantec programs leaving a lot of entries in the
registry when you have to install/reinstall those programs.

Just a little report back.
