Definition of a control

You know, it's kinda like a ..., well, hmmm?! Good question!

In Access, the thingie we use to search our data is termed a "query" (but
there are other names in other applications, and Access can also use a "SQL
statement" to do the same thing.)

In Access, you can put a "container" on a form or a page or a report, and
use that container to display information from tables, queries, files
outside of Access, and from calculations. These containers are termed
"controls".

(But if you're talking about the "containers" into which you place your data
in tables, those are "fields"!).

Don't take this as gospel, as this is just my working definition.
