Calculating the Sum of Drop-down list content control values (vs. display)

I am attempting to calculate the sum of the values of drop-down list content controls.

There are 6 categories that are being rated to sum a score. Each category has the same available ratings.
Display Value
Definite 2
Potential 1
No Impact 0

I have spent the past 2 days searching for answers to performing this coalition and seem to be getting no where. Unfortunately, I am not versed in VBA.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
