Defender fix not detecting anti-virus/turned off defender

Is this the fix for Windows Security Center not recognizing WD installation?
Does this also work for XP?
 
I can't tell you how many forums etc I have looked through to find a fix for
my Vista/Defender problem but your fix took about 5 minutes and worked
perfectly.
