Defender did not uninstall Anti-spyware

I've installed Defender, but I noticed that the Anti Spyware program is also
still running. I uninstalled Defender, but there is no entry for removing
Anti Spyware in Add/Remove Programs.

Hello Greg,

From http://www.filehippo.com Beta 1
http://www.filehippo.com/download/88f7471049179318fa98d78e1df25a33/download/

D/L Beta 1.

Install again Beta 1

Once is installed:
REMOVING BETA 1
Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

This needs to be run in safe mode.

Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Remove.

In Windows Programs files, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder.

Delete in Windows\system 32 :
GcColetion.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUnCompress.dll
GcTypLibA.tbl
GcAntiSpywareLib.dll
GcUserData.gcg

Delete in:
C:/Windows\Downloaded Installations, any reference about MSAS.

Now you can use Ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com
Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during installation of CCleaner.

Run the above remover in safe mode, then Ccleaner on all 3
settings(windows, apps & issues) and clear anything found reboot and see if it
still exists.

Done.

I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.
After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation.
I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.

I've seen a similar issue posted a handful of times. One of those posters
was able to track down the cause--an add-in or optional part, to another
antispyware program, that was actively "protecting" the Microsoft
Antispyware install.

See if you can stop all other antispyware or antivirus programs for long
enough to reinstall Microsoft Antispyware, and then uninstall it. I've
never done this without first uninstalling Windows Defender, so you could do
that--not sure whether it will matter.

Greg - I've seen a few other similar appearances in these groups. What
other antispyware or security apps are you running? My recollection is that
this is probably related to an add-on to another antispyware app that is
preventing the old app from being cleanly uninstalled.
