default window font has changed to bold

all of a sudden my default window font has changed to bold in most places and
italics in some places, this has permeated through many windows programs.
(Example On my desktop, the labels for all of my icons are now bold.) This is
strange because I did not adjust any of the settings.

My guess was to go control panel >display > advanced but no luck :(

Highlight each item one at a time, with anything that has a text option look
at the B (*BOLD*) and I (/Italic/) buttons if they are Pushed In (activated)
click them to NOT have them apply.

These SHOULD have the Bold button active:
Active Title Bar
Inactive Title Bar
Palette Title
(Example On my desktop, the labels for all of my icons are now
bold.)

That would Icon on the list above.

I just set Icon to Bold and Applied it and it did just what you described.
