default settings for MSConfig?

Hello,

I used MSConfig to boot into Safemode (F8 never seems to work reliably!).

I resolved the problems I was having in safemode, but now I am unsure what
the correct MSConfig settings should be.

The only settings that will allow me to boot into "normal" mode are on the
General tab to tick "selective startip" and tick "load system services" and
"load startup items", plus on the Boot tab to tick "Safe boot" and
"Minimal".

Although these settings result into a boot into normal mode, the settings do
not seem coherent.

If I try a more coherent setting - ie on General tab tick "Normal Startup",
on the Boot tab it automatically ticks "Safe boot" and when I reboot it
comes up in SafeMode.

So is there something wrong here, or should I just set whatver settings
result in a normal boot up and forget about it?

I really thing "normal boot" is a misnomer. You can leave it at
Selective Startup without any problems. It just means you selected what
is going to start up!
